What makes a community livable? What makes life more fulfilling? Connections. Connections are at the heart of everything Great Rivers Greenway is doing throughout the region. Walkable, bikeable communities build bridges across the divides of class, race and geography, giving us a new definition of “neighbor.” In every project, Great Rivers Greenway is forging new connections between people and the places they need and want to be.
The River Des Peres Greenway now connects I-55 and South St. Louis to the Shrewsbury MetroLink station. Old Town Florissant is now connected to the Missouri River by the Sunset Trail. Grant’s Trail connects neighborhoods to local parks and bus lines. The St. Charles County Heritage Museum is now connected to the Katy Trail. Funding for these types of projects is often shared as well, creating a unified effort toward community development.
