Project Information

Whether you're going to work, or school, to shop or visit friends or to explore a park, riding your bicycle is a great transportation choice.  Bike St. Louis is designed to increase bicycle usage by linking various residential, business, cultural, educational, transit and recreation districts via on-street bicycle facilities.

Bike St. Louis is a partnership between the Great Rivers Greenway District and various municipalities to implement  a connected, on-street bicycle route network along with appropriate directional signage.  Over the past several years, a network of 80 miles of on-street bicycle facilities have been developed in the cities of St. Louis, Clayton, Maplewood and Kirkwood.

Education and awareness of bicyclists on the roadways as well as bicyclists operating their bicycles correctly on the road is important.  Great Rivers Greenway has a series of safety brochures for adults and children along with safety posters.

To compliment the system, a Bike St. Louis route map was developed and is available at bicycle shops and visitors centers around the region.  Maps are available for free at the Great Rivers Greenway offices.
